Todd Fernando

Todd is currently completing a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Anthropology through the School of Population and Global Health within the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Melbourne (2015-2017). Todd's research focuses on understanding how Australian health systems (including Aboriginal health systems) respond to sexuality.

Previously, Todd completed post graduate studies through both the School of Communication and Culture at the University of Melbourne (2014), and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney (2013), after completing undergraduate studies in education and health at both University of Sydney (2009-2012) and Curtin University Australia (2007-2008) respectively.

Todd is currently employed as an Academic Tutor and Seasonal Lecturer with The University of Melbourne. Todd is the Co-Chair of the Indigenous Graduate Students Association for the University of Melbourne.

Todd co-founded the t-shirt company No More Boomerang. Todd is also the co-founder and director of ANTHYM, an Indigenous youth led movement working in the HIV/AIDS space and online sexual health education. Todd also is a private consultant, working with many organisations across Australia and Internationally for the economic, business development, employment, and histories of Indigenous peoples.

With 10 years experience in health research, Todd has contributed knowledge in a range of health sectors, such as, sexual health, Aboriginal Health, health education and promotion, youth health and wellbeing. Todd led and delivered training & support to multiple Aboriginal health services across NSW. This experience has allowed Todd to hold various leadership positions working on numerous national health strategies and policies.

Todd volunteers on several committees ranging from grassroots to national levels and is a consultant for many organisations in regards to policy and advocacy. Todd was recently appointed a board member for Hepatitis Victoria.
