Chip Frank

Bishop, CA

Hi there.I'm Chip. Once upon a time I was a programming and data junkie. I've since reformed my ways.

I used to wear name-tags which said: "Chip Was Here" in my old hey-days of programming. My old motto to follow-up "Chip Was Here" ... is gone drinking, programming or hiking. (In no specific order.)

After a number of years programming, which led to drinking, I do very much less of the latter two circumstances, and attempt to do a lot more of the former: Hiking.

The background picture is a panorama of the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, taken facing West, at the overlook 5 miles short of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains on the CA-NV border in California. (My favorite spot in the world.)

The mountains are a bit of a sanctuary for me. Once upon a time I was an old-school DMB fan, and while "Ants Marching" is both apt and humorous, reflecting on this is like looking in a mirror... no sooner than needing to leave the sanctuary to participate in "normal life" (make a living, etc), did I find myself another ant fighting the rat-race.

Give it up. It's not worth it. You can't be everything to everyone all of the time. Only a select few "make it." The rest of it is just background noise driving you to whatever "social norm." (Go to college, get a degree, have a family, crap on others in a fight for frugal and finicky impressions and possessions, etc.) Such (wasteful) endeavors are an altogether pointless waste of time and life.

My (personal) picture is that of my first experience with an iPad (2nd gen, discovering the forward-facing, user-screen-side camera).

If you're coming here to research me for whatever reason... the odds are I've said something either stupid or obtuse to set you off. Funnier so, I've been accused of being a "troll" despite e-mailing or posting under my own given name. (Think what you like, it's often humorous to sit and think for a few minutes on external and/or longer-term perspectives, beyond the immediate or impulsive, so on & so forth, etc...)

As in life...
