Kiah Lau Haslett

You know how people want to be athletes, lawyers or politicans ever since they were little? That's me and business journalism. I'm looking to work as a financial or economic reporter for a newspaper, news organization or specialty organization. I've already interned at the Omaha World-Herald, the Chicago Tribune, The Arizona Republic, Bloomberg News and Bloomberg Businessweek, as well as the United States Senate and the Nebraska Wheat Board. My e-portfolio is here.

I have a newly printed Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Nebraska. While there, I dabbled (minored) in economics, politics and history. I also took a trip to England and worked way too much at the student paper, the Daily Nebraskan, especially when I was the assistant news and then managing editor in 2010-2011.

My work interests include all aspects of business journalism, investigative reporting and higher education reporting. I have tons of experience in social networking. I'm enterprising, hardworking, funny and I'm willing to learn and take risks. I also like to play games, referee soccer, drink tea, watch movies, travel, volunteer and eat, especially steak, bacon and cupcakes.

I'm a member of the Asian American Journalists Association, Society of American Business Editors and Writers, Investigative Reporters and Editors, and a Chips Quinn alum.
