Jessica Ordeñana-Papa

New York

Hi, I am Jessica born in Queens, NY on November 26th 1982 at St. John's Hospital. Born to Mom, Ligia Elena (Helen) Cano, Dad, Marcelo Xavier Ordeñana. Siblings, Janet & Omar. I married my boyfriend Chris Papa of seven years on May 12, 2012. I am a proud mother to one beautiful daughter, Alysha Jasmine Reinosa.

I am a proud American and extremely blessed for my heritage. I have lived in New York & South Florida. Since I was a young child, I have always been out-going. I've heard (repetitive) stories about myself, all my life. (Thank you Tia Vanessa & Mami Little) Since I can remember I've had the passion for music & dance. It's in my blood (literally, my parents were Dance Competitors) From the age of two, I participated in Gymnastics, Ballet, Tap & Jazz. Moved to South Florida right after Elementary (5th grade) I attended Flanagan High School, an amazing Pathway School. I took up; cheerleading & aerobics (Gym) I was a teacher's aid. Which, later on helped me land a p/t job at Gold's Gym as an Aerobics Instructor. I played on the soccer team, Team Leader in M.A.D.D (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) My Junior year, I was on the Debate Team & Yearbook Club. And took Law as my path (for college).

My Junior year, was my last year. Unfortunately, that was the year my life turned upside down. In 1998, my mother was arrested in front of my siblings and I. My father was visiting his family in Ecuador, after much thought, we all thought it would be best for him to stay.. so we thought. I haven't seen my father in over 15 years. My siblings and I would visit my mother in a detention center, jail & (last) a camp. She served a total of 4 1/2 years. The day she finished her sentencing and was released, she was brought to ICE & was held there for almost a month. Then the day came, my siblings and I went to see my mom to say farewell. She was deported back to Colombia, where she resides today. The pain & struggles we have endured are indescribable, yet the reason why I started K.i.D- Kids of International Deportees a cause to seek out & help children of deportees. Site: kidorg.wix.com/kid

Please help me, spread the word to everyone. Please contact me if you happen to know of a child whose parent(s) are facing deportation or were deported.
