From 2000 to 2012, John Eckstine worked as a high school band director at Spring-Ford Area High School in Royersford, Pennsylvania. In this role, he taught individual and group instrumental lessons and trained wind ensembles, concert bands, and jazz ensembles. John Eckstine also taught music theory and strived to instill an appreciation of music in his students. Over the years, the former band director’s students appeared at a number of parades across the country. They played at the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade; the Hollywood Christmas Parade in Los Angeles, California; the Festival of Music in Toronto, Canada; the Orlando All-Star Music Festival in Orlando, Florida; and the Smoky Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Mr. Eckstine also led his band in various competitions. They won both the Tournament of Bands Chapter III and the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Group IV regional championships multiple times. Currently, John Eckstine serves as an instrumental music teacher in the Hampshire County (WV) Public School System.
