Writer, Speaker, and Evangelist in πΊπΈ
π Hey there! I'm Geoff Shively, a friend and bond servant of Christ Jesus, on a mission to learn how to serve The Lord by serving others.
β€οΈ Current: COO @ www.KnotsofLove.org
π¨π»βπ Former: CEO, CXO, CMO, Chief Hacking Officer, and Chief Scientist.
π΄ββ οΈ Retired hacker, fixer, growth hacker, and hacktivist.
π God started me in business at age 7 making and selling products, door to door, in Orange County, California. My tech/biz journey began at 12, when I dove into tech and the hacker scene. At 14 founded my first profitable company, and at 16 launched PIVX β a world renowned cybersecurity brand that quickly grew to a $168M market cap and had me co-creating guidance for The White House and developing security standards still used today tech giants like Google, Meta, and Apple. Got βfamousβ, ego skyrocketed faster than our stock price β and I blew it/lost it all. BUT! β¦God is gracious and He kept giving me opportunities to serve others and grow by exploring, building, and evangelizing impactful tech and companies around the world.
π¨π»βπ« At 18, I became the youngest instructor in UC system history, creating their first cybersecurity curriculum. I've been blessed to work with amazing people all over the world, create and evangelize prolific tech + media, and work with hugely impactful organizations like TOMS Shoes and Knots of Love β from their early days, to becoming a household name.
π‘ Over the past 30 years (age 43 now), I've done my best to help others by innovating and evangelizing tech that had the potential to make positive change. God allowed me to see and be part of many world-changing innovations years or decades prior to mainstream adoption:
β£ Cybersecurity, Phone Hacking (1994)
β£ Tech Startups (1996)
β£ Distributed systems and cryptography (1997)
β£ Privacy, e-commerce, internet radio (1998)
β£ AI chatbots, AI cybersecurity, AI for Good (1999)
β£ Growth Hacking (2001)
β£ SaaS platforms (2004)
β£ AI Enterprise hardware and software (2007)
β£ Blockchain, 3D printing, hackerspaces (2010)
β£ Live-streaming and citizen journalism (2011)
β£ Drone livestreams, drone food delivery (2012)
β£ Regenerative Agriculture (2017)
β£ AI cybersecurity - round 2 - (2018)
β£ Good / positive news (2019)
β£ AI trust and safety (2024)
β£ TBA
β€οΈ Over the years, God has also allowed me to make an impact many ways:
β£ Helped Knots of Love start + grow to deliver 688,000+ handmade items to cancer patients and NICU babies
β£ Helped grow TOMS and teach + evangelize new biz model
β£ Created and grew the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, helping millions change how to think about and grow food
β£ Created The Good News show, producing 107 episodes of positive content and helping catalyze a global movement
β£ Organized pandemic response teams supporting businesses, doctors, and high-risk communities In NYC and DC.
β£ R&D of AI for Good at Three Labs and mentoring students on ethical and responsible Gen AI at MIT Professional Education.
π± Recently I was called away from mentoring students on AI at MIT PE and running Three Labs AI for Good lab β to make space for what God has for me, in new pastures. I quit the teaching / mentoring position, shut down the AI lab, and took a step into the unknown. The Lord lit my path to brought me into Knots of Love!
βοΈ Jesusβ teachings and commands are my model for servant leadership. That doesnβt mean I always get it right. Far from it. Frankly, I suck at following Jesus, but He knows I love Him and am doing my best to learn and grow in my relationship/walk with Him. When I am doing it right, He is my starting point, my center/focus, my Lord in this journey of learning how to walk with Him, live, love, grow and serve.
πββοΈ When I'm not working you'll find me hanging with brothers and sisters learning about Jesus, writing, biking, surfing, skateboarding, listening to Forest Frank, and/or exploring and creating
