Grew up the son of a park ranger in West Virginia. I am my father's son, a committed public servant, and my mother's baby - she inspires me to be a better person. I am a mix of my rural upbringing and urban living.

I'm totally into wildlife conservation and social issues, which to me are inherently the same. I studied Zoology at the University of Florida, lived in DC off and on for years, spent a year in Ireland, and did graduate school at the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Now I spend my time conserving the nature of America at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. My main project is around saving the Monarch butterfly.

I'm also a writer and working to bring together a community of artists and conservationists to explore the connections between fantasy fiction and nature conservation. Learn more at www.wildforfantasy.com.
