Fr. Drew Royals

Morganza, Maryland

I was inspired to become a priest by the example of Pope Saint John Paul II. I studied theatre arts at Providence College in Rhode Island. As an actor in college I performed in several mainstage productions including my favorite role, Sir Thomas More in Robert Bolt's "A Man For All Seasons."

I spent five years at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg studying systematic theology and preparing for the priesthood with men from all around the country.

I was ordained a Catholic Priest for the service of the Church in the Washington area in 2006. Since then I've served parishes in Bowie and Rockville, and the District of Columbia. I currently have the joy of serving as the pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Morganza, Maryland. I'm a sports fan, a music-lover, and I enjoy meeting people.

I'm faithful to my bishop. I support my brother priests. I love saving souls. Perhaps my favorite thing Jesus tells his followers: "Do not be afraid!"
