Dawn Johnson worked for more than two decades at United Services Automobile Association (USAA), a Fortune 200 Company in the insurance and financial services industry. She began her career with the company in 1987, following her graduation from Kansas State University. With a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University, Dawn Johnson has expanded her educational foundation through a variety of business continuing education programs, including USAA's Managerial Information Seminar series, the Emerging Leaders Program, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Education program, and the Project Management Foundation curriculum. Ms. Johnson put her extensive experience and education in business in a wide range of positions within USAA and its subsidiaries.

Dawn Johnson first joined USAA as a marketing programs specialist with the Property and Casualty Insurance group. Her responsibilities in the USAA Marketing division included directing market segmentation, developing enterprise media plans, and brand guidelines and governance.

In 2001, Dawn Johnson became the President and Chief Executive Officer of USAA Financial Planning Services. In this capacity, she implemented a one-year turn-around plan to re-establish the credibility and value of the division. Ms. Johnson salvaged Financial Planning Services' profit and loss numbers, bringing the organization into profitability, reducing redundancies, and improving the workflows. Ms. Johnson directed the closing of seven satellite locations while continuing to provide seamless customer service through the home office.

After reorganizing USAA Financial Planning Services, Dawn Johnson became the President and Chief Executive Officer of USAA Alliance Services in 2003. She then executed a full review of USAA's alliance partnership programs, eliminating relationships that did not deliver on USAA's brand, and enhancing other relationships to better serve the unique needs of the military markets. Again, Ms. Johnson restructured the organization to promote growth and brought financial profitability to USAA Alliance Services Company for the first time in 20 years.

In recognition of her formidable abilities, Dawn Johnson was eventually promoted to the Executive Council at USAA. Since leaving USAA in 2008, Ms. Johnson continues to reside in San Antonio. She enjoys hiking and scuba diving in her free time.
