Samuel Hoskins aka Big Cyph is a native of Atlantic City/Pleasantville, NJ who started out in the music business with aspirations of being a star as a singer and performer. In his teens he was inspired by New Edition and Guy to form his own singing quartet called 4-Play. 4-Play was discovered by DJ Red Alert and the late Funkenklein, who introduced them to Solid Productions, a production team based out of Copenhagen Denmark. 4-Play released a single which went gold called "You deserve the best"

Kelly's single "Cry" which went Gold and Platinum eventually over time. Cyph and his then writing partner Carmen Lampson also worked with multi platinum artist/producer WyClef Jean of the Fugees and Jerry Wonder. They wrote a catalog of songs for their artist Ayesha and Siri at Platinum recording studio in NYC and at the famous Booga Basement.

2008 Cyph took his talents to Hollywood, CA to work with a plethora of artist, entertainers and established producers like Babyface, Full-Force, Katt Williams, Karlie Red, Kristenia DeBarge and artist who were signed to Benny Medina and Billionaire entrepreneur Michael Liberty.

In 2015 Cyph made the decision to retired temporary from the music industry to care and be close to his mother who suffered a stroke.
