Ashley J. Hobbs

New Jersey

Ashley is a professor of Developmental Writing at Union County College in Cranford, NJ and is looking to continue a fruitful career in higher education administration with a special focus on women, service and leadership.

Ashley is also an employee of Moguldom Media, writing for MadameNoire, one of the largest online publications for Women of Color. Pulling lessons from her own life, she seeks to encourage and inspire thought, discussion and positive change surrounding issues most often supressed among Women of Color.

In 2012 - following severe disappointment with the limited and stereotypical portrayals of Women of Color in the media - Ashley launched HerSoul Inc., a blog that highlights the lives of everyday Women of Color - their struggles, triumphs, innermost thoughts and feelings and their encouragement to others. The site has featured trailblazers including poet and activist, Gina Loring; singer and songwriter, Brave; and actress, Kendyl Joi - and continues to grow.

HerSoul Inc. will be further developed into an all-encompassing, transparent empowerment brand for young Women of Color.

Ashley is a creative and free spirit at heart. Her interests and hobbies include reading, writing, holistic health, social activism/entrepreneurship, DIY projects, digital photography, travel, acting, music, independent film and event planning.
