Allan Chen

Allan Chen is the Chief Information Officer for Menlo College in Atherton, CA. He has been at Menlo since 2012.

Prior to Menlo College, Allan was the Assistant Dean for Law Technology & Academic Computing at the School of Law at Santa Clara University. He has also filled roles within the Academic Computing department at Stanford University. He has spent his entire career in higher education and Information Technology.

As CIO at Menlo, Allan is responsible for the full breadth of information technology services. He manages the development and long-term strategic role of technology across all of campus. Along with handling traditional services such as user support, media, telecommunications and administrative systems, the Office of Information Technology also works with other departments on business process management. Several new systems have been implemented since his arrival to improve efficiency and increase collaboration between groups.

Allan has made numerous presentations and regularly writes on technology and leadership in higher education. Along with EDUCAUSE, Allan has been involved with the Special Interest Group for University and College Computing Services (SIGUCCS), part of ACM. He has been a member since 2005 and has made multiple presentations at both the Management Symposium and the Service and Support Conference. He served as Treasurer for the 2012 and 2013 conferences. Allan has also been on the Information Services Advisory Group for the Law School Admission Council.

Allan is a graduate of the Leadership Institute and the Learning Technology Leadership Institute (both summer 2013) from EDUCAUSE, and will be attending the Leading Change Institute in summer 2014.

Allan has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.
